Effective March 16th, 2021, County Enters Red Tier, Specific Restrictions Pending County Approval

With specific restrictions pending approval from Monterey County, the county has entered the red tier of California's COVID-19 reopening plan.

Here's is what is allowed to reopen under red tier guidelines (pending county approval).

  • Outdoor dining with three households of up to six people
  • Personal services that require the removal of masks outdoors and indoors, with specific health and safety measures in place
  • Indoor dining (including bars with full meal service, food courts, hotel restaurants) at 25% capacity, but limited to four people from one household, requiring that indoor dinner service end by 10 p.m., and other safety requirements
  • Indoor gyms and fitness centers at 10% capacity
  • Indoor museums, zoos and aquariums at 25% capacity
  • Indoor movie theaters at 25% capacity without concessions
  • Outdoor stand-alone amusement park rides such as Ferris wheels, carousels and train rides
  • Limited use of indoor pools

Effective as of August 5th, 2020, all persons in Pacific Grove must wear a mask when outside and fines may be issued in $100, $200 and $500 amounts for violations. All persons in public spaces and must keep a face covering on their face, covering their nose and mouth at all times, except when exercising. This ordinance is consistent with the California Department of Public Health's guidelines on mask wearing. Read the guidance here, and the ordinance here.
