Whip it Up Wednesday Gives Aspiring Pacific Grove Chefs a Historic Venue for Strutting their Culinary Stuff

Pacific Grove, CA — With the goal of fostering local community around food innovation, Cream and Crumbles, a family-friendly, soft-serve ice cream shop housed on the first floor of the historic Hart Mansion, located at 649 Lighthouse Avenue in downtown Pacific Grove, is proud to announce a pop-up restaurant initiative in partnership with kitchen manager Andrew Olsen. Whip it Up Wednesday will offer aspiring chefs a chance to run their own venue on Wednesday evenings at the Hart Mansion, with dates to be determined based on chef availability. All net proceeds will go to participating chefs.

Whip it Up Wednesday will also host cooking competitions featuring Pacific Grove high school students who have completed the high school’s unique, year-long culinary program. All net proceeds (above cash prizes, cost of food and labor) will be donated to PG high school, where the majority of Cream and Crumbles employees attend.

The first event, slated for October 16, from 6 to 8pm, will pit PGHS sophomore Bella Green against junior Hayden McCraner, who will each prepare an appetizer, entree and dessert. Participating guests will get to vote for their favorite dishes, meet the young chefs and hear winners announced at the culmination of the dinner. Contestants will be allowed to choose one person to help them in the kitchen and will receive ongoing support from Chef Olsen.

“We are delighted to give striving chefs an opportunity to show off their culinary creativity, while enhancing their reputations and their bank accounts,” says
Sue Rosenstock, owner of Cream and Crumbles. “We hope to help position Pacific Grove as a hub for food innovation while bringing our neighbors together for exciting yet affordable dining experiences.”

Reservations for Whip it Up Wednesday will be sold at $35 per seat (total 35 seats), payable in advance by cash or check to Cream and Crumbles, 649 Lighthouse Ave, Pacific Grove CA 93950. Event dates and information will be posted on the Cream and Crumbles website at For further information, contact Sue Rosenstock at
