Ensemble Monterey Chamber
Orchestra performs music that is adventurous,
challenging and not commonly available to our community
in other venues enriching the cultural life of the
California Central Coast. Check out their upcoming
schedule below
The Ensemble Monterey Chamber Orchestra combines
with 5 renowned jazz musicians for “The Best of Both
Worlds.” Jazz legend and Santa Cruz County cultural
treasure, Ray Brown, will lead an all-star jazz
quintet in three of his own new arrangements for
string orchestra and jazz ensemble. Ray is one of
the most respected jazz composers and arrangers in
the country. He has worked with a generation of the
greatest names in jazz, including Count Basie, Stan
Kenton and Bill Watrous. On the Classical side,
Ensemble Monterey performs
Reverie,
by Alexander Glazunov. A beautiful solo for French
horn and strings,
Reverie
features Principal Hornist John Orzel. Also on the
program are Edvard Grieg’s lovely
Holberg Suite,
and Alberto Williams’ spirited
Third Argentinean
Suite for String Orchestra.
The Ensemble Monterey Chamber Orchestra performs
“The Best of Both Worlds” on Saturday, February
23rd, at the Monterey Peninsula College Music Hall
at 8 PM, and on Sunday, February 24th, in Santa Cruz
at the First Congregational Church at 7 PM. Each
concert features a free, informal talk by Conductor
John Anderson, 1 hour before the performance.
Tickets may be purchased at the door. For more
information call the Ensemble Monterey Chamber
Orchestra at 333-1283, or visit us at
