of the California Central Coast. Check out their
upcoming schedule below
Ensemble Monterey Chamber Orchestra Presents “Dressed to
the Nines”
The Ensemble Monterey Chamber Orchestra presents
“Dressed to the Nines,” a concert of delightful nonets
for strings, woodwinds and brass. “Dressed to the
Nines” is presented at the Pacific Grove Performing Arts
Center on Saturday, November 17th at 8 PM,
and at Santa Cruz’s First Congregational Church on
Sunday, November 18th at 7 PM. Music
Director John Anderson presents “Insights from the
Conductor” one hour before each concert. The concert
begins with Joseph Rheinberger’s beautifully romantic
Nonet – a
miniature symphony in scope and a cornerstone of
Romantic era chamber music. Next is Walter Piston’s
Divertimento.
Although he was a major 20th Century
composer, Piston’s
Divertimento is a study in classical forms
and balance. For dessert comes Clark McAllister’s
Lou’s Mountain Bread
Suite. Commissioned by Ensemble Monterey in
2004, Lou’s Mountain
Bread Suite is a bouquet of traditional
American folk songs arranged with grace, wit and great
rhythmic energy by one of America’s most versatile
contemporary composers.
Tickets for Ensemble Monterey are available by calling
